Day 9 - 'The Cakery' 18 Nov

The Cakery have been very enthusiastic throughout the day. Their marketing has been first class and their mentor Nic Carey of Urban Tribe gave them lots of tips.

The cakes looked bery good and they gave a lot of thought to the packaging. The shop was well decorated with home made designs. The team members looked very effective with the males in their suits and the females in polka dot skirts.

Day 8 - 'Tub Tee Shirts' 17 Nov

Business started slow for Tub Tee Shirts but some but with a re-arrangement of their (with help from their mentor) shop to show more products business picked up. Talking to customers in a relaxed and polite manor was effective for getting people into the shop. The most popular design was the 'I love Baa -th tee shirt' with the picture of the sheep. Some last minute sales to the Students' Union helped push up the sales.

Day 7 - 'The Sweet Emporium' 16 Nov

The Sweet Emporium had a slow start but their first class posters combined with members of the team holding up signs, handing at samples and visiting local businesses for the whole of the day ensured a great day of sales! By 4.30pm the they had sold out! The team were very good with dealing with customers and converting a conversation into a sale. Each team member was clear and committed to their role.

Day 6 'Stereoscopic' 15 Nov

Sterescopic are very good when dealing with customers. They have been assertive but charming at the same time leading to a constant stream of people into the shop. They have done a great job decorating the shop and their marketing is some of the best we've seen with well designed leaflets, posters and fliers. The team have been handing out lots of samples and directing people to the shop with a big sign.

Day 5 - 'New Leaf Tea'

New Leaf Tea ushered members of the public into the shop using their charm, free samples and an array of signs. They did great things with the shop bringing their furniture from their houses. They had chosen a vintage theme for the shop with a wind up record player, a slideshow of vintage photographs and nice touches such as a post-it note comment board.

The mayor of Bath enjoyed a cup of tea and a cake at the shop!

Day 4 - 'T' 11 Nov

At 8.30am T were organised and raring to go. They have made good use of curtains to make the shop appear more cosy. Selling stock from the 'Tea Emporium' the Christmas tea and the Moroccon mint tea were flying off the shelves. This was supported strongly by the cup cakes that had been relentlessly cooked over night by one of the team members.

Visits by many VIP's a etherlive techie, a BT techie, Bernie Morley Pro Vice Chancellor for learning and teaching, Helen Freeman Marketing SU, George Chan University film maker, Mandy Wilson-Garner Vice Chief Executive of SU, Anna Boneham Volunteer Co-ordinator and son Louis Boneham, David Howell SU president, David Cameron VP activities and diversity,

Day 3 - 'En Joy' 10 Nov

A wild and wacky day in the shop. Sales of art started slow but quickly picked up after their first £50 sale. The busker worked hard playing a mixture of styles to bring people into the shop. Croissants and cookies supported the art sales. The workshops were 'en joyed' by all especially the fun room in the back. There was a low point with a discrepancy in the till. But the high energy and enthusiasm of the team quickly picked people up.

Day 2 - 'One Malaysia' 09 Nov

A very busy day in the shop a constant flow of members of the Malaysian student society and the Bath public for their first taste of Malaysian food.

There was customers queueing out the door at many points throughout the day.

Best sellers were Nasi Lemak A truly authentic Malaysian dish that is a must try. A coconut rice with sambal (chili based sauce) for £2.50.

Day 1 - 'Oh My Whoopie Pie' 08 Nov

Oh My Whoopie Pie sold Whoopie Pie's. Their product had the unique selling point of being the only Whoopie Pie shop in Bath.

Oh My Whoopie Pie made a strong beginning to the competition. A window display of whoopie pies grabbed the passing trade ensuring a steady flow of students throughout the day. The samples were flying off the trays. Oh My Whoopie Pie always had a strong presence on Stall Street directing people towards the shop.

The team were taking orders from local businesses and Matthew, the team leader, was travelling to the businesses by bicycle.

A final rearrange of the shop so that passing trade could see the preparation ensured sales right up until 5pm.

Launch - 07 Nov

The students who have entered Student Enterprise 11 and won a day in the shop viewed the shop and prepared how they would set up on the day. The students talked this through with their mentors who offered their experience.

After a period of inspiration everyone came together for food, drinks and to chat followed by some sound advice from the president of BANTER Bath Entrepreneurs a 500-strong group of budding student entrepreneurs.

Pitch

We had over 30 entries to the competition and we saw 26 pitches. Some of the pitches were very organised and some needed quite a lot of work. There were a lot of great ideas so it was difficult to pick just 9. Each team had 5 minutes to pitch their idea followed by 10 minutes of questions from the panel.
